Sisters we need to talk..

About Grief

We often think about grief in relation to the death of a loved one but in truth is can mean a loss of any kind of something or someone that is dear to us. This could well be a person or animal but could also be a place, a lifestyle or even just the feelings of safety that we have from familiarity.

It is also something that every single person will experience at some point.

Everyone deals with grief differently and this needs to be respected…just because you experience grief in one way doesn’t mean the next person will. Some find is easier to be alone, some to carry on as if nothing has happened and keep busy or some need to talk about their loss.

The best and most important thing we can do is to give people the time, space to explore their loss and let them know we are there to listen if needed.

There is no timeline for learning to live with grief….some may mourn straight away, others may take time to realise their grief and for some it may take them by surprise long after the event.

Do not be afraid to ask for help to deal with grief if it becomes overwhelming. Grief does not go away, life simply expands so that it isn’t the biggest thing anymore.
